The UK has a long history of producing some amazing engineering achievements. From super fast cars to spectacular space missions, UK engineers have done it all.

Want to know more about the UK’s most exciting engineering projects? Then read on as we take a look at some recent engineering feats which are more than a little inspirational.

Rosetta Space Mission

Space, the last great unknown; well, not if the UK engineering industry has anything to say about it!

After all, if there’s one thing the UK excels at, it’s aerospace engineering.

The space sector here in the UK is on the rise, and has earned itself a place on the world stage as a major player in the global space industry.

Earlier this year we saw a landmark event in the history of space exploration – the Rosetta comet landing.

After a decade spent chasing a comet through our solar system, the Rosetta rocket finally completed its mission – thanks to the British engineering industry.

A number of UK companies were involved in the project, supplying a variety of systems and components that were crucial to the mission’s success.

Bloodhound Supersonic Car

Ever heard of the Bloodhound SCC?

Faster than a speeding bullet, this incredible vehicle is set to smash the current land speed record – a feat that would see it crowned the fastest vehicle in the world!

Behind the Bloodhound is a team of courageous British engineers, who have been working tirelessly to see their visions of victory realised.

The project has captivated the interest of audiences across the world, who are waiting with baited breath to seen the Bloodhound in action.

And that’s not all, the project has a more noble aim too, and is hoping to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers.

The Bloodhound Education initiative is currently sharing a variety of learning resources, based on this revolutionary engineering project, with more than 5,000 schools across the UK. All this is helping to ignite the interest of these budding engineers.

The vehicle is expected to make its assault on the land speed record at some point in 2016 – so watch this space!

Engineer Conference 2015

Want to know more about UK engineering? Then why not head along to the Engineer Conference 2015?

This event is a celebration of UK engineering and shines a spotlight on some of the most challenging and innovative projects currently being undertaken.

This year, the show will be held at the NEC in Birmingham, between the 2nd and the 4th of June.

So there we have it, British engineering at its best!

Inspiring feats of engineering such as these take place every day, including right here in our own factory. And as leading spring suppliers, here at Airedale Springs we know a thing or two about high quality engineering .
